Concerned Nigerian democrats living abroad have regrouped under the aegis of the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) to condemn in the strongest terms the recent militarisation of Southern Nigeria.

NADECO was formed in 1994 by a broad coalition of Nigerian democrats who called on the military dictator, Sani Abacha to step down in favour of MKO Abiola who won the June 12 general election.

In a release by Lloyd Ukwu, Executive Director of the coalition in US, it also condemned the arrest of Mr Sunday Igboho, a Yoruba nation activist and his wife, Mrs Ropo Igboho on Monday July 19 in Cotonou and the kidnapping and subsequent illegal detention of Mr Nnamdi Kanu in Nigeria

It notes that under the Gen Buhari administration, “Nigeria is quickly degenerating into a rogue state in its irrefutable and irredeemable, rapid descent into lawlessness.”

*NADECO further observed that it was the same Gen Buhari administration of 1984 that orchestrated the abduction of Mr. Umaru Dikko in London.

It observes that “recently Sheikh Gumi, a diehard Buhari supporter, was showering praises on bandits whom he said were in it just to make money and not to kill adding that “these are bandits that shot down an Airforce jet Monday 19th July 2021.”

Calling on the Federal Government of Nigeria and Buhari to “immediately and unconditionally release Mr. Kanu and Mr. Igboho and his wife, it implores the “international community to rise up to the occasion and call Gen. Buhari and his administration to order.”

It alleges that Mr. Buhari “represents a clear and present danger in the entire West African subregion if not timely stopped,” pointing out that “the carnage that is about to befall the region will definitely be beyond any imagination.”
